To take an advanced level course, you much provide proof of at least three intermediate levels at merit or above, examined by an Equity recognised exam board.
Taught by an Equity Fight Director, and apprentice teachers from the ACTT, this three-day intensive training course is designed with actors and performers in mind; you will learn and develop your ability to learn and perform combat and violent actions safely and effectively.
You may have used a sword. You may have used an axe. Here, we introduce them both together; greater than the sum of their parts! You’ll learn dual broadsword, dual axe and sword & axe as a paired system. We’re not just doing escrima but with a sword and an axe - we are getting every last bit of functionality out of using these particular weapons in tandem and harmony. Also, come on, it just feels badass!
Examined by ACTT; all qualifications earned are Spotlight accredited.
We also have a guest instructor last thing on the 20th - Ross Burton will be giving a workshop on functional staff spinning and juggling! This will all be looped back in with the fighting context, and will give an unparalleled feel for, and control of, the weapon. While aimed at the staff weapon used by the standard level, many of these techniques can be employed with a sword, and axe or two at once - getting the weapons to speed quickly and unpredictably, whilst keeping them from tangling with each other, will make you a blur of steel. It is also a valuable solo-training exercise to keep those skills sharp after the course!
Discounts are available at checkout for Sword & Scoundrel members, ACTT members, and Equity members
